Seth Godin is one of those few that clearly understand the ramifications of the internet on the marketing world. He is one of my absolute favorites as far as internet marketing principles and philosophy are concerned. He is a no fluff author that really tells us how it is. In every book he writes, he talks about content being the most important part of any internet marketing endeavor which means that a marketer need to put some thought and effort into what they are creating in order to succeed. Something which I totally agree with.
Godin was recently interviewed by Rachelle Money for a website called, 'Word Tracker Keywords.' The interview was interesting and there were 2 statements that stood out for me.
Rachelle: Is online marketing becoming too competitive for a marketer to do well in?
Seth: "Almost everyone is mediocre at it, so if you can be good at it then you will provide yourself with plenty of opportunities."
And:
Rachelle: In the past you have called SEO a 'black art', but is there a good way of using these tools?
Seth: "My position is that the clients are the problem, not the consultants. That's because they want shortcuts, not hard work. The best SEO is great content. Don't do that and you don't get much.
Something to think about?
Here is the rest of the interview for your reading pleasure. :-)

So, what have you learned from his interview? I encourage you to share because you may have realized something that someone else has missed and by sharing our learning, we will all get where we want to go much faster. :-)
