To answer your question, if you go to the very top of the webpage on the left hand side, you will find a little figure of a person beside and envelope. If you click on the little person when it says 'new' beside it, you can accept friend requests there. If the envelope has 'new' beside it, then click on that to get your mail.
I don't have much there yet but I am building a little FAQ to help with those little details. You can find it in the forum called 'Rules of Engagement'
